Sandra,

Your thyroid was definitely under active. You need to try to keep taking your medication. Yes your thyroid medication should start to regulate your thyroid hormone levels again. Sometimes symptoms can take a while to show up.

I have been treated for hypothyroid for many years. Recently I was unable to get my medication for a month. When I had my tsh level checked it was 32.030. What does this mean? I have never seen a level this high before. I am back on 100mcg daily and hope it will regulate my level again. I haven't had many symptoms, but am concerned about this high level.

Angela,

It's very easy to get discouraged with your condition when you are battling the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

If you follow the advice that I give so very often on this sight to work with your doctor to get your thyroid levels adjusted properly, then eventually you will start to feel like your old self again.
When or if you find your self feeling fatigued, suffering from memory loss or are experiencing the other symptoms of hypoothyroidism over a period of days or up to a couple of weeks you should consult your doctor because you may need a medication adjustment.

I hope that it helps you to know that you are not alone in feeling the way that you do about being hypothyroid. We've all been in this position and are back to living a normal life after receiving proper treatment for this disease. You can live a normal life if you just stay focused on the treatment and not your discouragement. It isn't easy but your can do it.

Calista,

You in this case you have to take the time to tell other people, look "I can't! Right now I need to take care of my health!" It's not always easy to put yourself first when you are always caught up in taking care of others or even on the run doing what ever. Stop and take care of yourself before you find yourself wondering why you can't do as much as you used to be able to do.
